Whitewater Rafting Costa Rica has some great whitewater rafting, and Guanacaste is no exception- in fact there are rivers nearby to fit all levels- from a gentle nature float to a class IV rager, and something in between. Rio Corobici The Corobici is a great way to  sit back and relax and really soak in the raw nature of Guanacaste. With no serious whitewater, this float is perfect for all ages. Close to the nature reserve of Palo Verde, the bird, animal and plant life is abundant and observant clients will have a front row seat at the best Costa Rica has to offer. This half day trip includes lunch. Rio Colorado For an entry level whitewater trip, the Rio Colorado is perfect. It’s a small river, but the rafts are canoe style, with just one client and one guide each. Gorgeous scenery and medium size rapids make the perfect compromise for the whole family. The put-in is just a few minutes outside of Liberia and can be included as part of a larger tour of Rincon de la Vieja. In this video the owner of Tourist Information Flamingo, Claudia, and her intrepid webmaster (that’s me writing this) run the Rio Colorado in Rincon de la Vieja. Rio Tenorio If class III rapids make you yawn, then the Upper Tenorio is where you need to be. This is serious whitewater, class III and IV, with a 4 meter class V waterfall (which can be walked around if the client prefers). If you came for some heartpounding adventure, this is where you’ll find it. No experience is necessary, but clients need to be in normal physical condition and at least 14 years of age. More These are the closest options for people in the Flamingo area, but of course it barely scratches the surface of whitewater rivers in Costa Rica.
